Eid Announcement (1432 A.H)

MOON (Crescent) was not Sighted anywhere in North America today. Therefore, we will complete 30 days of Ramada and InshaAllah we will celebrate EID on Wednseday.

Details of this Decision:
"Moon was not sighted in Kalamazoo County area and then afterward the KIC moonsighting committee contacted the reliable moonsighting organizations in North America and Canada.

After hearing from all of the following organizations, local imams and mosques, we have decided that there will be NO EID tomorrow. Hence we will complete 30 days of Ramadan and have EID inshaAllah on Wednesday August 31, 2011. Eid prayer will start at 8:30 AM and Khutbah will start after the prayer.

InshaAllah, Bilal Islamic Center will hold Eid Prayer at 9:30 AM on Wednesday August 31, 2011".

Happy Eid, in advance, to All of you. May Allah accept our fasting and all the good deeds. Ameen.

Regards,
KIC Hilal Committee

ZAKATUL FITR: Pay before EID Prayer

NOTE: This is Zakat is different from Zakat-ul-Mal, the annual Zakaat.
It is $7-10 per person in the houehold. This Zakat is Purification of our Fasting and Prophet SAW has ordered the financially responsible person to pay it for everyone in the household. So if you are 3 memmbers of the famlily, wife+husband+1 child, you should be paying $30 dollars before EID Prayer. KIC has helped collecting funds and the Zakat committee is diligently distributing the funds to the needy.

Eid Announcment

Assalamu Alaikum Every one,
Today on 29th of Ramadan 1431 A.H.,members of the Moon sighting committee went out to see the moon in Kalamazoo, MI. Along with the effort, we were in contact with major Hilal Sighting Organizations. There names are listed below.
Alhamdulillah, the Hilal (Crescent) for Shawwal was sighted in multiple locations in Florida, Texas, and Louisiana, USA after the sunset on September 9th 2010. Therefore, we announce that Friday 10th September 2010 is the first date of Shawal 1431H. We wish every one a blessed Eid. Eid Kareem! Eid Mubarak! May Allah accept every one's Fasting, Prayers and Eitekaf.
As a reminder, Zakat-ul-Fitr, sometimes referred to as Fitra, MUST be paid BEFORE Eid Salat. The amount that must be paid is between $7-$10 per person in your family. So if you have 4 people in your family, you should pay $28-$40 total. You can pay this at the masjid BEFORE Eid Prayer. This is different than the Zakat-ul-Maal paid annually on savings/wealth.
The Eid Prayer will be held at: 8:30 AM and Khutba/Sermen will be after the prayer.

Their Decision:
They all have confirmed that moon has been sighted several places in USA and so they announced the Eid to be Tomorrow (Friday, Sep 10, 2010)

Our Decision:

Based on our Moon Sighting Policy, we did the local sighting effort first but did not see the Hilal (Crescent) and then we waited for the news from other organizatoins. First news came at about 9:15 PM. Our decision was made in few minutes and we recorded the Eid announcement on our voice mail at about 9:35 PM. Those who attended Isha prayer also heard the announcement right after the prayer.
May Allah guide us all and unite us on Haq.
EID MUBARAK TO ALL OF YOU
Jazakumallahu Khair.
Best Regards

Ramadan Announcment

Assalamu Alaikum every one,
Today is 29th of Sha'ban 1431 A.H. The members of the Moon sighting committee went out to see the moon in Kalamazoo, MI. And we were in contact with major Hilal Sighting Organizations. There were no reliable reports of the new Crescent Sighting in North America. Therefore, we will complete 30 days of Sha'ban. InshaAllah, the First day of Ramadan will be Thursday, August 12, 2010. Taraveeh prayer will start shortly after Isha. The Iqama time for Isha is 10:20 PM. Please make an effort to join us for Taraveeh Prayers.
Did our Prophet SAW leave us with any guidance about the last day of Sha'ban?
The answer is yes and it is like this:

Abû Hurayrah relates that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “No one should fast on the day or two before Ramadan, except someone who already has a fast to observe, for he may do so on that day.”

This is an authentic hadîth related by al-Bukhârî (1914) and Muslim (1082).

The meaning of the hadîth:

The day in the Islamic calendar known as 30 Sha`bân is referred to by many Islamic legal scholars as “the day of doubt”.
`Ammâr relates from Prophet: “Whoever fasts the day of doubt has disobeyed Abû al-Qâsim (Muhammad, peace be upon him)”
[Sahîh al-Bukhârî]

It is clear from the hadîth that it is unlawful to fast on this day simply because Ramadan is coming.

Their Decision:
They all have confirmed that there was NOT a single Hilal Sighting Report any where in North America.

Our Decision:

Based on our Moon Sighting Policy, we did the local sighting effort first but did not see the Hilal (Crescent) and then we waited for the decision from the major organizations in North America. None of them received a single report of actual sighting of the Crescent (Hilal) of Ramadan.

May Allah give us a chance to benefit from this month and help us attain piety, Amen

Jazakumallahu Khair.
May Allah guide us all and unite us on Haq.
